Head of district court exposed for bribery in Odesa region

The Security Service, in cooperation with the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, has exposed the acting chairman of one of the district courts in the Odessa region, who demanded money for a "favorable" court decision. This was reported by the SSU press service.

In exchange for a bribe, the official promised a local resident to secure a lawsuit and obtain documents in a civil case.

Law enforcement officials caught the court leader "red-handed": after receiving the bribe and delivering the promised decision in favor of the interested party.

Currently, the issue of notifying the chairman of the district court of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (acceptance of an offer, promise, or receipt of an unlawful benefit by a public official) is being resolved.

An investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime. The perpetrator faces up to 10 years in prison with property confiscation.

Comprehensive measures to expose corruption were carried out under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
