Today, the first meeting of the Regional Coordination Headquarters for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) took place. It was attended by the leadership and relevant departments of the Regional State Administration, as well as the representative of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights in Dnipropetrovsk Region, Mykhailo Karpenko, and district heads, as reported by the Regional State Administration (RSA).

"We are at the top in terms of the number of internally displaced persons. The head of the region, Serhiy Lysak, has repeatedly emphasized that these are not guests but our residents. We must provide them with comfortable living conditions. To achieve this, we are creating a comprehensive regional program to support IDPs. This program should serve as the basis for addressing the requests of IDPs across all areas," said Irina Grytsai, the Deputy Head of the RSA.

The program covers more than ten areas, including medical and social services for IDPs, targeted assistance, and their involvement in cultural and social life. It also focuses on ensuring equal access to education for children from conflict-affected areas, not only in schools but also in vocational schools and universities.

The most urgent issues that the program aims to address are housing for IDPs and their employment. Participants in the coordination headquarters emphasized these points during the meeting.

"I have personally had several meetings with IDPs. The situation in several places where they live compactly on the same street can vary significantly," added Mykhailo Karpenko, the representative of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights in the region. "These people have been through a lot, so each of us should focus on their adaptation and improving living conditions in our region."

The program aims to provide comprehensive support for internally displaced persons and help them integrate into their new communities in Dnipropetrovsk Region.
