The Security Service conducted a special operation in the Kyiv region, during which they apprehended another Russian correctional agent. This was reported by the SSU press service.

The perpetrator, for financial gain, worked for the main directorate of the Russian General Staff (commonly known as GRU). On the aggressor's instructions, he was tasked with determining the geolocations of Ukrainian Defense Forces units in the capital region. The enemy was particularly interested in repair bases for Ukrainian military equipment, where maintenance and repairs were conducted.

Additionally, the individual leaked information about electrical substations in Kyiv to the occupiers. According to available information, the enemy's intelligence service hoped that during their reconnaissance activities, their accomplice could identify the locations of Ukrainian air defense units near energy facilities.

The reconnaissance information was needed by the aggressors to prepare a new series of targeted airstrikes by the Russian Federation on Kyiv and adjacent populated areas.

Security Service operatives apprehended the perpetrator "in the act" while he was recording video footage of a Ukrainian military base and associating its GPS coordinates with an electronic map.

According to the investigation, the suspect is a 23-year-old resident of Odessa who moved to Kyiv in search of "quick earnings." To achieve this, he left his "resume" on specialized internet platforms for finding odd jobs. This is how he came to the attention of Russian military intelligence, which, for money, recruited him to work in favor of the aggressor country.

All further communication was conducted through one of the messaging apps. To maintain secrecy, the traitor created several anonymous accounts.

During a search at the place of the detainee's residence, a laptop and smartphone with evidence of his subversive and intelligence activities against Ukraine were discovered.

Based on the collected evidence, the Security Service investigators informed the suspect of his suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed under conditions of war). Currently, he is in custody, facing a potential life sentence.
