The Security Service of Ukraine has detained a spy from the Russian "Ghost" group in the Odessa region. This information was reported by the press service of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Odessa region.
The suspect is a local resident and an ideological supporter of the Kremlin regime. During the mass disturbances in Odessa in May 2014, he actively participated in provocations in favor of Russia. To avoid responsibility for his crimes, he fled to the temporarily occupied part of the Luhansk region, where he joined the ranks of the militants.
There, he was appointed as the commander of a reconnaissance unit of the Russia-controlled "Ghost" group. Since then, the individual known by the pseudonym "Santa" has been fighting against Ukrainian forces in the eastern part of the country, including the area around the Bakhmut Road.
Later, the terrorist decided to leave his leaders and secretly returned to the territory controlled by Ukraine in Odessa. In the city, he attempted to lay low and avoid justice.
Security Service investigators informed the suspect of the charges under Part 1 of Article 258-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (participation in a terrorist group or terrorist organization). He is currently in custody, facing up to 15 years in prison with property confiscation if found guilty.
