SSU detains Poltava resident who spat at military and insulted them

The Security Service of Ukraine, in collaboration with the National Police, has apprehended a provocateur in Poltava who insulted and spat at Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers. This information was reported by the press service of the Security Service of Ukraine.

The perpetrator is a local fitness trainer. The incident was documented when he began provoking and verbally abusing officials from the local military enlistment office while in the city center. During the incident, he baselessly accused Ukrainian defenders of being responsible for Russia's war against Ukraine and "killing people for money." Furthermore, the perpetrator spat at one of the military personnel. The victim was a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who had returned from the front lines, having suffered a concussion and multiple injuries due to a landmine explosion.

The perpetrator recorded his criminal actions on camera. Additionally, authorities are investigating whether the provocative videos and posts made by the offender could have been used by Kremlin propagandists to spread new disinformation about the war in Ukraine.

After the recent high-profile incident, the man attempted to evade justice, but law enforcement managed to apprehend him. Currently, the issue of notifying the fitness trainer about the suspicion against him is being addressed.

An investigation is ongoing to determine all the circumstances of the crime and to hold the perpetrator accountable.
