Starting in the evening, aggressors shelled the Nikopol region three times, targeting heavy artillery at the city of Nikopol itself and the Marganets community. One person has tragically lost their life, and three others have been injured. This information was reported by the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
An 18-year-old young man tragically lost his life, and three men aged 21, 35, and 44 sustained injuries, including blast injuries and shrapnel wounds.
The incident resulted in damage to a church, 5 private houses, 2 outbuildings, vehicles, and several power transmission lines.
Under the procedural guidance of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation has been initiated into violations of laws and customs of war, combined with intentional homicide (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, during the night of August 9, 2023, the Russian armed forces once again shelled the city of Nikopol and the Marganets community with artillery. As a result of the shelling, an 18-year-old young man lost his life, and three other men were wounded.
The incident caused damage to a church, private houses, outbuildings, vehicles, power transmission lines, and gas pipelines.
Currently, priority measures are being taken to document the crime committed by the aggressor country.
According to the General Staff, during the past day, the enemy launched 4 rocket attacks, conducted 53 aerial strikes, and carried out 86 shelling attacks with multiple launch rocket systems on the positions of our troops and populated areas. Unfortunately, as a result of these Russian terrorist attacks, there have been casualties and injuries among the civilian population, with residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure suffering damage.
