During the night of May 22, Russian forces launched missile and drone attacks on the Dnipropetrovsk region. This information was reported by the head of the regional military administration, Serhiy Lysak.
On that night, defenders from the Eastern Operational Command (PvK "Skhid") successfully intercepted and shot down 15 drones and 4 cruise missiles over the region. However, there were also "hits."
In the Dniprovskyi district, a 27-year-old man was injured due to a missile strike. He is currently in the hospital in moderate condition.
Several buildings of the rescue unit were damaged, leading to two fires, which have since been extinguished. More than 10 cargo and passenger vehicles were destroyed, as well as an equal number of specialized vehicles, which were damaged. Additionally, 25 private cars and 2 buses were damaged.
An impact also occurred at a private enterprise in Dnipro, where three buildings were severely damaged.
In the Ilarionivska community of the Synelnykove district, a UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) fell, and missile fragments were discovered at the scene. Seven people were injured in the incident, including two women aged 52 and 70 who are in the hospital.
Three private houses and nine multi-story buildings were affected, along with a kindergarten, shops, and administrative buildings. Six cars were damaged.
The assessment of the affected areas is ongoing.
The purpose of this mass attack on the Dnipropetrovsk region was to exhaust the air defense capabilities, as reported by Natalia Humeniuk, the head of the joint press center of the Southern Defense Forces.
"They are focusing on specific air defense sectors. They are trying to figure out from which directions these sectors can be defended or where a specific strike can break through. Considering the use of various types of weaponry, this underscores that our air defense is a source of concern for them," she stated.
