The Cyber Police and PrivatBank have facilitated the reimbursement of over 3 million UAH in damages to the families of military personnel who were defrauded by a criminal. This information was reported by the Cyber Police.

The fraudulent activities of a 32-year-old resident of Dnipro were uncovered by the Cyber Police Department in collaboration with the investigators from the Pechersk Police Department in Kyiv in April of this year. The individual was reselling SIM cards to gain access to the financial numbers of military personnel who were in captivity, deceased, or missing. Subsequently, the perpetrator gained entry to their online banking accounts and transferred money to accounts under their control.

It was established that the criminal "withdrew" money from the accounts of 19 military personnel. The total amount of damages exceeded 3 million UAH.

The Cyber Police, in cooperation with PrivatBank, have ensured full reimbursement of the damages to the victims' accounts. Money was successfully recovered, in part, through the operational blocking of the suspect's accounts.

The perpetrator has been charged under Article 190, Part 3 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and preventive measures in the form of detention have been applied.

The procedural guidance is carried out by prosecutors from the Pechersk District Prosecutor's Office in Kyiv.
