A businessman from Cherkasy will be tried for illegal extraction of minerals with losses of UAH 209 million

The manager of the company that illegally extracted valuable minerals in Cherkasy region will be brought to trial. The prosecution will seek to recover the damages through the court.

This information was provided by the press service of the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office.

Investigations have revealed that the accused illegally occupied a land plot and engaged in the extraction of clay and clay mixture, which was used in brick production. The extraction of valuable minerals of national and local significance was organized by the man on the territory of a local deposit of brick raw materials. He did not possess the legally required documents for land use and special permits for subsurface use.

The unlawful activities caused damages of 209 million hryvnias to state interests. To compensate for these damages, the prosecution has filed a civil lawsuit.

Prosecutors of the Smila District Prosecutor's Office have submitted an indictment to the court under Article 197-1, Part 4 of Article 240 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
