The workers of the State Bureau of Investigations (DBR) have reported suspicions to three forest masters from the Hubnytske Forestry of the "Haisynskyi Lisgosp" state-owned enterprise in Vinnytsia region. Due to their negligence, the state incurred losses of 7 million hryvnias. This information was reported by the press service of the agency.
It has been established that for an extended period, the employees did not properly fulfill their duties and allowed illegal logging in the areas entrusted to them. As a result, the offenders were able to freely destroy forest plantations covering an area of up to 30 hectares and cut down nearly half a thousand trees of different species.
According to the findings of the examination, the inaction of two masters caused the state more than 6 million hryvnias in losses, while the third master was responsible for nearly 600,000 hryvnias in damages.
The DBR will take measures to compensate for the losses incurred to the state budget.
Furthermore, an investigation into the management of the aforementioned forestry will be conducted, considering the systematic nature of such crimes. Possible corrupt aspects and any evidence of collusion with illegal loggers will be examined.
The forestmasters are suspected of official negligence that resulted in grave consequences (Article 367, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The issue of selecting preventive measures and suspending them from their positions is currently being addressed.
