In Vinnytsia district, a man attempted to bribe the police for illegal fishing and offered a bribe of 4,000 hryvnias (UAH) to law enforcement officers.

According to the Vinnytsia Police Department, a 43-year-old resident of Dovhopolivka village was engaged in illegal fishing with nets on the Southern Bug River. The offender attempted to evade responsibility and offered cash to the police.

The police warned the man about the criminal liability for attempting to offer a bribe, but he persisted. The crime was documented by the investigative and operational group of the Vinnytsia District Police Department.

Law enforcement officers seized over 400 fish of different species and fishing equipment.

Investigation into these incidents has been initiated under Part 1 of Article 249 (Illegal capture of fish, water bio-resources) and Part 1 of Article 369 (Offer, promise, or provision of an unlawful benefit to a law enforcement officer) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

For these violations, the offender faces a prison sentence of up to four years.
