Criminals who stole UAH 700,000 from a military serviceman's card were arrested in Dnipro

The law enforcement officers in Dnipro have apprehended two individuals who stole 700,000 hryvnias from a serviceman's bank card. This was reported by the Dnipropetrovsk Region Police.

The serviceman was acquainted with the culprits at a hostel. When he went to rest, they took advantage of the situation, using his mobile phone and committing the theft through online banking.

On May 12, after discovering that 700,000 hryvnias were stolen from his card, the serviceman reported the incident to the police. Police investigators found that the culprits transferred a portion of the money to their own bank cards and spent the rest on purchasing goods from online stores.

Operatives from the Dnipro District Police Department, in collaboration with criminal analysts, tracked down the suspects. They turned out to be residents of the town of Ilarionove, aged 31 and 40. During their investigative actions, the law enforcement officers found and confiscated the suspects' mobile phones, gold jewelry, purchase receipts for goods, and a bank card.

On May 15, the suspects were informed of their suspicion of committing a criminal offense as per Part 4 of Article 185 (theft committed during wartime) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty for this crime is up to 8 years of imprisonment. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
