In Cherkasy region, from June 9 to 15, there have been about fifty cases of acute intestinal infections reported. The intensive rate per 100,000 population is 4.32, which is 35.1% higher than the same period last year. The cases of acute intestinal infections were distributed across the region's united territorial communities as follows:
- Cherkasy district: 21 cases (intensity rate - 3.62 per 100,000 population)
- Uman district: 21 cases (intensity rate - 8.49 per 100,000 population)
- Zvenyhorodka district: 3 cases (intensity rate - 1.55 per 100,000 population)
- Zolotonosha district: 5 cases (intensity rate - 3.69 per 100,000 population)
The reported diseases included:
- Gastroenterocolitis of undetermined etiology: 50%
- Gastroenterocolitis of known etiology: 40%
- Salmonellosis: 10%
Among the cases of gastroenterocolitis, 25% were caused by rotaviruses, as noted by the doctor.
Cases of salmonellosis were reported in the Irkliaivska, Mankivska, Umanska, Smilianska, and Cherkaska territorial communities, while cases of rotavirus infection were found in the Drabivska, Kanivska, and Umanska territorial communities.
To protect yourself from food poisoning and acute intestinal infections, the doctor recommends:
- Adhering to basic personal hygiene rules and ensuring children do the same.
- Consuming safe drinking water and food, following proper cooking methods, and observing food storage conditions.
