A man who killed his wife and lied that she had gone abroad was arrested in Odesa

In Odesa Oblast, law enforcement officers have apprehended a 49-year-old man on suspicion of murdering his wife. The woman's body, bearing signs of physical injuries, was discovered buried in a shed on their property.

The incident was reported by a local council deputy from Ivaniivska, who informed the police about the disappearance of the 42-year-old woman. According to the deputy, the woman had not been seen by her fellow villagers for almost a month.

Police officers conducted an investigation at the woman's residence, where they found traces of blood on the floor, walls, and bedsheets. Within a few hours, they determined that the woman was deceased. Her husband admitted to having beaten her in May during a jealousy-fueled argument. When she lost consciousness, he left her in the house. Upon his return, he discovered his wife dead. To conceal the crime, he wrapped her body in a blanket and buried it in a shed on their property. He then told the neighbors that she had gone abroad to visit her sister.

Preliminary information suggests that the woman died from a fracture of the ribcage. Her body has been sent for forensic examination.

The husband has been detained and informed of the suspicion of murder under Article 115, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He could face up to 15 years of imprisonment.
