The head of the Odesa patrol police department was found guilty of bribery

A bribe for the unimpeded transportation of oversized cargo under the escort of law enforcement officers - the head of the patrol police department in the Odessa region has been exposed. This was reported by the press service of the Odessa Regional Prosecutor's Office.

Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Odessa Regional Prosecutor's Office, the head of one of the departments of the Patrol Police Department in the Odessa region was caught demanding and receiving unlawful benefits (part 3 of article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, the law enforcement officer organized the systematic receipt of bribes for the transportation of oversized cargo and its escort by a police car.

According to this scheme, he assessed one corresponding permit for the transportation of cargo at $300 USD.

Law enforcement officers documented his receipt of a $600 USD bribe from a businessman.

Currently, the police officer has been informed of the suspicion, and a preventive measure has been chosen in the form of detention with an alternative to post bail in the amount of 1 million hryvnias.

Pre-trial investigation in the criminal case is being conducted by investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Odessa region under the operational support of the employees of the Main Directorate for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Odessa region.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict.
