A man who killed a woman out of jealousy is convicted in Poltava region

The 47-year-old resident of Novosanzharska territorial community has been found guilty of intentionally causing moderate bodily harm and committing murder. The perpetrator has been sentenced to nine and a half years of imprisonment, and he will remain in custody until the verdict becomes legally binding. This information was provided by the Poltava Regional Prosecutor's Office.

In March 2023, the man was at his home when he attacked his 57-year-old cohabitant multiple times on the head with a dumbbell due to jealousy. A few days later, he brutally assaulted the woman again. He attempted to strangle her and then stabbed her in the abdomen at least twice.

After the crime, the 47-year-old man fled the scene. However, law enforcement authorities located him in a neighboring village, where he had been hiding among acquaintances.

In a separate incident in Dnipro, a man beat his acquaintance to death with a hammer. According to law enforcement, an argument broke out between the two men on July 5. During the altercation, the 48-year-old man fatally injured the homeowner with the hammer. The perpetrator could face up to ten years of imprisonment for this crime.
