Driving schools for people with disabilities open in Ukraine

Driving schools for people with disabilities are opening in Ukraine. The First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, initiated the project 'Barrier-Free.' Its goal is to create equal opportunities for learning to drive for anyone who wants to master driving skills. The first five such driving schools have opened based on the educational institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Kyiv, Kamianets-Podilskyi, Kropyvnytskyi, Lviv, and Dnipro.

To enroll in the training, a few simple steps need to be taken:

Undergo a medical-social commission and obtain a certificate indicating the cause and disability group.
Undergo a medical examination and obtain a certificate confirming the ability to operate a vehicle.
Choose a driving school for theoretical and practical training.
Submit the necessary documents to the chosen institution.

People with disabilities who aspire to obtain a category B driver's license for the first time, require training, or retraining for vehicles with manual controls are invited to join the program.

Currently, the adapted driving schools have the first 22 students undergoing theoretical and practical courses, with one student already receiving a driver's license.

The driving schools for individuals with disabilities offer accessible infrastructure, training in mixed inclusive groups or individually, the option of remote theoretical training, individual training according to a convenient schedule, certified modern vehicles with manual controls, and support and consultation from experienced instructors who have undergone additional courses.
