On July 12, law enforcement officers in the Odessa region discovered the body of a woman in the city of Chornomorsk on Oleksandriiska Street. The victim had signs of violent death, was wrapped in a carpet, and concealed in a wooden cupboard. This information was reported by the press service of the Main Department of the National Police in the Odessa region.
Preliminary findings indicate that the woman's death resulted from mechanical asphyxiation – strangulation.
The police have initiated a pre-trial investigation under Article 115, Part 1 (Intentional Homicide) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
During the initial investigative and search operations, law enforcement officers determined that on the night of July 8-9, the victim was visiting her 33-year-old acquaintance. During the consumption of alcoholic beverages, a verbal conflict arose between them, during which the man strangled the woman. He concealed the body of the victim for more than three days because he did not know how to dispose of it. When he realized he could no longer keep it in his residence, he hid it in a cupboard and took it to the nearby trash containers.
Subsequently, investigators located the whereabouts of the killer, who was hiding in Mykolaiv. The man was apprehended at one of the bus stations.
After collecting all the evidence, the suspect was informed of his involvement in the intentional homicide under Article 115, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He may face up to 15 years of imprisonment for the committed murder.
