During a special commission inspection in Cherkasy region, 243 shelters were found to be unsuitable, and 279 lacked unobstructed access.

Igor Taburets, the head of the Cherkasy Regional State Administration (OVА), reported this. Local authorities have until July 25 to address these issues. It is the responsibility of everyone not only to maintain shelters properly but also to increase the stock of protective structures. The special commission will inspect these facilities quarterly and may conduct selective checks at any time.

"Shelters must be accessible to the population during every air raid, day or night, without any 'buts,'" emphasized Igor Ivanovych.

If you encounter closed shelters for swift response, please report to the following hotlines:
- 101, 102, 112
- 0687976545, 336005, 335998 (Operational Duty Officer of OVА)
- 0686218029, 0504201356 (Duty Officer of the OVА Contact Center)

Recall that on the night of June 1, Russia launched a missile strike on Kyiv. As a result, three people died in the Darnytskyi district of the capital: a 9-year-old girl, her 34-year-old mother, and a 33-year-old woman. The husband of one of the victims and local residents claim that the shelter where people sought refuge from the shelling was locked.

After this incident in Kyiv, there have been widespread inspections of shelters in Ukrainian cities.
