On July 16th, during lunchtime, a road accident occurred on the Kropyvnytskyi-Kryvyi Rih highway near the village of Bratoliubivka in Kirovohrad Oblast. The collision involved a cargo minibus and a passenger minibus. There were 17 people inside the passenger minibus. As a result of the accident, four passengers of the route minibus were killed, and 13 others, including three minors, were injured.
The Kirovohrad Oblast Prosecutor's Office reported that, according to the investigation, a 25-year-old suspect, driving an "Opel Vivaro" vehicle, grossly violated traffic rules by crossing into the oncoming lane, creating a hazardous situation for the "Volkswagen Crafter" passenger minibus, which was moving in the opposite direction, resulting in a head-on collision between the vehicles.
Among the passengers of the route minibus, four people died, and 13 individuals suffered various degrees of bodily injuries. Among the injured are three children aged seventeen, thirteen, and four.
Based on the guidance of the Kirovohrad Oblast Prosecutor's Office, the driver of the cargo minibus has been charged with violating traffic safety rules leading to the death of several people (part 3 of article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Prosecutors have already filed a motion with the court to remand the suspect driver in custody as a preventive measure.
