Igor Tkachuk, the second deputy of the former head of the Odessa Regional State Administration, Maxim Marchenko, and his associates will face trial for receiving an unlawful benefit of $10,000. This was reported by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.
Investigators determined that in March 2023, the official, together with his assistant, demanded and received a bribe of $5,000. In exchange for these funds, they promised to influence the management of a municipal enterprise to make a decision regarding employment.
The prosecutor's office also stated that Tkachuk and another accomplice demanded and received $5,000 in bribes from the same individual to influence the decisions of judges in a commercial case.
Igor Tkachuk was arrested on March 6th by the Security Service of Ukraine in the Odessa region. He is charged under Article 28 Part 2 and Article 369-2 Part 3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of the National Police of Ukraine.
Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent until their guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict.
