In Ukraine, the construction of the first 14 family-type children's houses has begun for large foster families from the frontline regions. This initiative is reported by the Office of the President of Ukraine. These buildings are being constructed under the initiative of Elena Zelenska's "Address of Childhood" Foundation in eight regions.
As of now, Ukraine has 1310 large foster families raising 5 to 10 orphaned or parentless children. Since the beginning of the war, at least 80 such families have been left homeless. They moved to safer regions of Ukraine but still lack permanent housing.
The new houses for large foster families will be inclusive, energy-efficient, and equipped with shelters. The "Address of Childhood" project is funded by international donors.
