Workers from the State Bureau of Investigations (DBR) have detained two law enforcement officers from the Zolotonosha district department of the National Police in Cherkasy region who had beaten a bound individual in the forest. This information was reported by the DBR's press service.

According to the investigation, the law enforcement officers decided to quickly solve a theft case. While working on their theories, they illegally detained a local resident and began to "interrogate" him in the forest.

The police officers forcibly placed the local resident into an official vehicle, put a plastic bag over his head, and drove him to the forest. They then handcuffed the man's hands and began to beat him. They also fired several shots near the man's head.

Preliminarily, it is known that the man who was subjected to this abuse had no connection to the theft being "investigated" by the law enforcement officers.

Both individuals involved in this incident have been detained. They have also been informed of the suspicion of exceeding official authority by a group of persons (Part 1 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 365 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). They could face imprisonment for up to eight years.

Additionally, the law enforcement officers have been remanded in custody with a bail of 200,000 hryvnias each as a preventive measure.
