On August 14, the spokeswoman of the Operational Command "South," Natalia Humeniuk, explained in a live broadcast on the "Yedyni Novyny" telethon why the Russian army attacked the Odessa region with missiles and Iranian kamikaze drones.

Natalia Humeniuk noted that the kamikaze drones were apparently targeted at the port infrastructure of the Odessa region. However, the air defense forces thwarted the plans of the Russian occupation army and shot down all enemy targets in the air.

"The issue of the grain deal remains unresolved. The enemy continues to retaliate for these unresolved issues and for Ukraine's refusal to accept its terms. He continues to put pressure on port infrastructure and those regions that, according to his predictions, may be more vulnerable in this regard. Specifically, the Odessa region, being a maritime and port region, is under threat," said the spokeswoman of the Operational Command "South."

It is worth recalling that the Russian army attacked the Odessa region with Kalibr cruise missiles and strike kamikaze drones "Shahed 136/131." All the missiles and drones that were launched were headed for the Odessa region. In total, the Russians launched 15 Shahed 136/131 strike drones and eight Kalibr cruise missiles. Fragments of downed cruise missiles and Iranian kamikaze drones fell on a dormitory of an educational institution, a residential building, and the "Fozzy" supermarket.
