Dakota and Silva: in Cherkasy, police dog handlers showed children how to train dogs

On the eve of International Children's Day, K-9 officers with their four-legged partners visited Cherkasy General Education School No. 22. The law enforcement K-9 handlers spoke to the children about their service dogs, their characteristics, habits, and the work they do in the field.

The canine units at the Dakota K-9 Training Center, represented by Dakota and Silva, are beloved among children. They demonstrated various commands and engaged with the attendees. Dakota specializes in search and rescue operations, helping locate both adult offenders and lost children who have left home unattended. Silva specializes in the detection of explosive substances, assisting the police in bomb disposal, detecting illegal transportation and storage of explosive materials, firearms, and ammunition.

These brave K-9 partners always patrol together, regardless of their health condition or environmental conditions. They also participate in training exercises, inspections, and searches. In addition, law enforcement officers emphasized to the children how to behave in various dangerous situations, such as finding explosive devices.

Furthermore, law enforcement officers paid special attention to the issue of the detrimental impact of narcotics and psychotropic substances on individuals, stressing the importance of their non-consumption.

"Dogs always have a very positive impact on a person's psychological and emotional state. We feel it every time we perform in front of children who express their love for our four-legged friends sincerely," said Andriy Davydenko.
