Deputy mayor detained in Dnipro for demanding bribes from volunteers

Deputy Mayor of Dnipro, who is also the head of the department, was detained by operatives from the Strategic Investigations Division in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, as well as by investigators from Police Department No. 5, while receiving the first part of an illegal benefit in the amount of 12,000 hryvnias. This was reported by the Main Department of the National Police in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.

In total, for the lease agreement of a premises to establish a volunteer center, the official demanded an illegal benefit of 20,000 hryvnias from the benefactor. Representatives of the charitable foundation planned to set up a humanitarian aid distribution point for internally displaced persons in the center.

Following the fact of demanding and receiving an illegal benefit by the public servant, the police officers informed the woman of the suspicion (Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The court selected pretrial detention as a preventive measure for the suspect, with the right to post bail of 170,000 hryvnias.

The procedural guidance in the criminal case is provided by the Right-Bank District Prosecutor's Office in Dnipro. It's worth noting that the NABU detectives have reported suspicions of a group rape of a girl by two law enforcement officers and their accomplice.
