Little Japan: Cherry Blossom Alley Blooms in Dnipro Ukraine news 07 May 2023 at 09:01

In the park of Dnipro University of Railway Transport, a cherry blossom alley has blossomed. This year, it has been fenced off, but people still come to admire and take photos near the spring trees.

Every year, city residents eagerly await this beauty to visit the alley and capture memorable, beautiful photos.

The cherry blossoms near the university appeared around 70 years ago, long before it became mainstream. The university's alley is always open to guests, but people are asked to be careful with the trees and flower beds around them.

Japanese cherry blossoms are grown not for their berries but for their flowers. The key to a great photo is to choose a suitable outfit.

Cherry blossoms typically bloom for one to two weeks.

In addition to the cherry blossoms on the university campus, there are other locations where you can take vibrant photos: the boulevard near the Monument of Glory, where 50 cherry trees were planted in 2017 to honor the Year of Japan in Ukraine; Heroes Square, where Japanese cherry trees also appeared several years ago in honor of friendship with Japan; Usachova Square, which has the only cherry blossom alley on the left bank.

Sakura is the name for trees in the rose family, subfamily of plums (species - Prunus serrulata), most of which serve purely decorative purposes: they bloom but do not bear fruit. Unlike other trees of its kind, Japanese cherry blossoms are grown not for their berries but for their flowers.

There are 16 species of cherry blossoms and over 400 varieties.
