In Poltava region, based on materials from the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), a freeze has been placed on the Ukrainian assets of Russian Colonel-General Valery Kapashin. He serves in the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation as the head of the Federal Administration for Safe Storage and Destruction of Chemical Weapons.
The blocked assets list includes over twenty commercial objects, more than 3,000 square meters of residential real estate, and 17 land plots. Among the seized assets are Kapashin's family house, premium-class restaurants and hotels, trade and entertainment centers, and office buildings, with a total area of almost 30,000 square meters. The SSU reports that the total value of the seized assets amounts to over 1 billion hryvnias.
It is known that Kapashin's blocked property was registered in the name of his relatives – his daughter and son-in-law. They were residing in Ukraine but fled to Russia before the start of the full-scale invasion and obtained citizenship of the occupying state.
During searches of the family's residential and office premises, which belong to General Kapashin, military uniforms of the Russian model, awards given to Kapashin in the Kremlin, prohibited Soviet symbols, and Russian propaganda literature were discovered.
The SSU investigators are conducting an investigation under several articles, including Article 111-1 (engaging in economic activity in cooperation with the aggressor state, illegal authorities established on temporarily occupied territory, including the occupation administration of the aggressor state), Article 111-2 (abetting the aggressor state), and Article 258-5 (financing terrorism).
Efforts are being made to further nationalize the seized property for the benefit of Ukraine. Earlier, the SSU detained a deputy from Kropyvnytskyi who was involved in extortion.
