Head of district military commissariat detained in Cherkasy region for helping to avoid military service for bribe

In Cherkasy Oblast, the head of a department in one of the district territorial centers for conscription and social support has been detained. The woman received $6,200 USD of unlawful benefit. This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odessa Oblast.

Operatives from the Directorate of Strategic Investigations in Cherkasy Oblast, in collaboration with investigators from the regional police, detained the head of the territorial conscription and social support department in one of the districts. The suspect received $6,200 USD in unlawful benefits through several stages to resolve the issue of deferment from military service. She took money to declare one citizen unfit for service due to a health condition and issue a temporary certificate for the military conscript. Subsequently, this allowed the individual to cross the Ukrainian border without hindrance.

Currently, the suspect has been detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. She has also been informed of the suspicion of committing offenses under Article 369-2 (Abuse of Power) and Article 332 (Illegal Transfer of Persons Across the State Border of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The question of applying preventive measures is being considered.
