For Independence Day, an exhibition of collages titled "Our Nash" was organized at the Assumption Cathedral in Poltava, Ukraine. This exhibition combined landscapes of post-war Great Britain with images of liberated cities in Ukraine, including Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Mykolaiv, and the Donbas region, as reported by Suspilne.
The collages were created by Olesia Herashchenko, who was inspired by British artist Paul Nash, known for his artwork during World War I that depicted the war's devastation in a way that complied with wartime censorship by not showing the dead. Instead, Nash chose to focus on depicting the ravaged landscapes. Herashchenko's exhibition featured seven paintings by Paul Nash and seven photographs from the territories in Ukraine that have been liberated from occupation, taken by reporters Vlad and Kostiantyn Liberov and Roman Polyakov.
The exhibition was displayed in Poltava for one week and was seen as a significant cultural and artistic event, hosted within the space of the Assumption Cathedral. The exhibition aimed to symbolize the connection between the wartime experiences depicted in Nash's paintings and the struggles and resilience of Ukraine during and after the conflict. The display was available for viewing until September 3rd.
