In Dnipro, shelters are being equipped throughout the city. One type of shelter is concrete modular structures, which are installed at public transport stops and other locations where a large number of people gather.

This information was reported by the Dnipro City Council. Last year, Dnipro installed 36 different types of shelters, and an additional 22 have been installed since the beginning of the current year. The city also installs shelters according to the needs of the military.

All these shelters are custom-made. As Oleg Yanitsky, a representative of the manufacturing plant, mentioned, they come in various types, but each shelter is safe for use.

"In 2015, with the support of the Ministry of Defense, we started producing shelters for the military, and based on that, our team developed shelters for Dnipro. This spring, a state enterprise with a license and accreditation certificate conducted certification tests for this structure. According to the test results, our modular concrete structures belong to civil defense protective structures. They are classified as Shelter Class A-2, for which we received a compliance certificate. This is the highest safety class for structures that can be installed on the surface without being buried in the ground," he explained.

The production process starts with the manufacturing of the reinforcing framework. Then it is placed in a special mold and filled with high-quality concrete. Shelters are made up of modules, which are transported to the installation site and welded together there. These modules can be used to create shelters of different sizes, with capacities ranging from 5 to 150 people simultaneously. The shelters can withstand a pressure of up to 40 tons per square meter.

"The installation process looks like this: first, the shelter details are delivered to the location by trucks, then municipal workers weld the parts together. When the shelter becomes fully monolithic, they begin to equip it: install doors, connect it to electricity, set up benches for the comfort of the city's residents. We also place portable toilets and garbage bins nearby," commented Dmytro Korobov, the Head of the Infrastructure Department of the Department of Improvement and Infrastructure of Dnipro City Council.

One such shelter is installed by municipal workers within one or two weeks. The installation time depends on its classification. The locations for installation are chosen jointly with the Main Architectural Administration to cover both park areas and public transport stops.
