Odesa region detains official who stole money during repair of bomb shelter

In the Odessa region, a case of corruption involving the head of one of the united territorial communities has been uncovered. This official participated in tenders for the capital and current repairs of a local bomb shelter. This information was reported by the press service of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Odessa region.

During the investigation, it was revealed that the head of a territorial community in the Berezivsky district of the Odessa region illegitimately influenced the process and results of tenders.

Additionally, he demanded and received bribes from a representative of a commercial entity to ensure the victory of this entity in an open competition and the signing of a contract for the renovation of the local bomb shelter.

The size of the bribe amounted to 100,000 hryvnias, which corresponds to 10% of the total amount allocated for repair work.

In case of refusal to pay the money, the official threatened to complicate the contractor's participation in future tenders and the conclusion of other agreements.

Furthermore, it was determined that the repair work on the mentioned bomb shelter was actually carried out at the end of 2022. The detained official has been informed of the suspicion in accordance with Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
