In Odessa, a man has been detained on suspicion of providing assistance to others in illegally crossing the state border in exchange for a monetary "reward." He indicated a fee of $4,000 USD for his services. This information was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odessa region.

According to the investigation, a 26-year-old resident of Odessa entered into an agreement with several individuals and devised a plan for their illegal border crossing, targeting men of conscription age. Using a messaging app, he found an interested "client" and provided detailed information about the border crossing method.

For his assistance, the man charged $4,000, which the client was supposed to pay in two installments: a portion upfront and the remainder upon reaching the neighboring country. After receiving a sum of $1,500, he provided the client with a vehicle to transport him to the intended border crossing point, from where the "buyer" was supposed to cross the border on foot. However, the vehicle and passenger were intercepted by law enforcement officers during the journey to the border.

The "seller" has been informed of the suspicion under Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He faces imprisonment for a term of seven to nine years, along with the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years, and property confiscation. Currently, preventive measures are being considered.
