An officer who demanded a bribe of 100 thousand hryvnias from a military man was detained in Odesa

In Odessa, the head of the material service will face trial for allegedly accepting a bribe in the amount of 100,000 hryvnias. This information was disclosed by the Specialized Prosecutor's Office responsible for law enforcement in the Southern region.

Based on the gathered evidence, the officer, along with the deputy commander of the rear support unit, attempted to extort 120,000 hryvnias from a subordinate military psychologist in the radio relay battalion. In exchange for this money, they promised to assist him with obtaining a transfer letter, ensuring a smooth transfer to another military unit. Furthermore, their agreement stipulated that no official investigation would be initiated regarding fabricated accusations.

After part of the money (100,000 hryvnias) was handed over, the man was apprehended. He was subsequently charged and detained, with a possibility of bail set at 998,448 hryvnias.

Prosecutors have forwarded an indictment to the court against the former head of the material service of one of the military units, in accordance with Part 3 of Article 368 (Acceptance of a particularly large bribe or by a person holding a particularly responsible position, punishable by imprisonment for a term of eight to twelve years with the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years, and property confiscation) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
