The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has decided to allocate 1.5 billion hryvnias from the Recovery Fund for the construction of trunk water pipelines. Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal announced this on Telegram. According to the announcement, the water pipelines will provide drinking water to cities in Dnipropetrovsk region such as Kryvyi Rih, Nikopol, and Marhanets.
"These will be water pipelines from Karachunivske reservoir to Kryvyi Rih to Southern reservoir. Marhanets to Nikopol to Khortytsia to Tomakivka," stated Denys Shmyhal.
Currently, almost 846 million hryvnias are planned to be allocated to the Kherson, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Dnipropetrovsk regions to meet their drinking water needs.
Recall that on June 6, the Russian army blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station in the Kherson region. The powerhouse of the station was completely destroyed and is not subject to restoration. Nearly 80 settlements, including Kherson, are at risk of flooding.
The water level in the Kakhovka reservoir is rapidly decreasing, and the evacuation of the population from potential flood areas has begun.
