In the village of Oleksandrivka in the Kropyvnytskyi district of the Kirovohrad region, a mural was created in honor of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The mural depicts a fighter with the call sign "Bear." This information was reported by "Suspilne."
The "Bear" is a resident of Oleksandrivka and has been defending Ukraine in the Russian-Ukrainian war since 2014.
The idea for this mural belongs to the local civic organization "Justice - Our Choice." The artist, Oleksandr Britsev, was the one who painted the mural. The organization also suggested a candidate for the mural, specifically a local soldier currently serving on the front lines.
"It is important to honor not only the fallen heroes," the artist commented. "I wanted to highlight those who are currently in the fight. Soldiers need to know that people appreciate, support, and await their return."
During the creation of the mural, the artist used a photograph of the soldier as a reference. "I creatively reinterpreted it. An artist can emphasize what they consider important. I did not change the character of the portrait, but I made certain details more pronounced."
Oleksandr Britsev himself is a displaced person. He lived in Donetsk until 2014, then moved to Kharkiv. In 2022, he relocated to the village of Birkivtsi near Oleksandrivka. Last year, he created two other murals in Kropyvnytskyi, "Ukraine is Freedom" and "Koryfei Marko." He worked on the current mural for five days. The mural is 10 meters in height and five meters in width and adorns the wall of a youth sports school.
