Due to rocket attacks by the Russian occupying army, the environment in the Odessa region has suffered contamination, including pollution from building materials and rocket debris, amounting to 11.7 billion hryvnias. This information was reported by the State Environmental Inspection of the South-Western District.

According to the State Environmental Inspection, the largest damage, amounting to 11.1 billion hryvnias, was caused in July 2022 during the shelling of the building and recreation base 'Godzhi' in Serhiivka.

In April 2023, as a result of a drone strike on one of the enterprises in Odessa, the state inspectors conducted an inspection of the area and identified land pollution with a total area of over 7,000 square meters. Land pollution damage amounted to 339.7 million hryvnias, and air pollution due to combustion products amounted to 482.2 thousand hryvnias.

Additionally, the inspection summed up the losses caused by the destruction of energy infrastructure facilities in the Odessa region by the Russian army, which amounted to 36.3 million hryvnias.

Furthermore, the State Environmental Inspection emphasized that environmental crimes may not be immediately noticeable but will have significant long-term consequences. Restoring the environment will take more than a decade.
