The bodies of three individuals were found in rivers in the Myrgorod and Poltava districts, with both rescuers and local residents involved in their recovery. This was reported by the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Poltava region.
On May 11, a fisherman discovered the body of a man in the Psel River in the city of Hadyach. He immediately notified the police and rescuers who arrived at the scene and retrieved the body. The identification of the man is currently underway.
On the same day, in the village of Novoselivka, local residents noticed the body of a woman in a pond. They independently retrieved the body and called the police. The police are establishing the identity of the woman.
Another body of a deceased person was found in the Psel River in the village of Sukhorabivka, Reshetylivska community. Local residents spotted the body and also called the police. Rescuers arrived at the scene and retrieved the body of a man born in 1966 to the shore.
According to the State Emergency Service, there have been 11 cases of drowning-related deaths in Poltava region since the beginning of the year. Compared to the previous year, when there were 10 similar cases during the same period, this number has increased.
