In Poltava Oblast, the bridge over the Udai River has been overhauled

In Poltava region, a major repair of the bridge over the Uday River on the R-60 Krolevec-Konotop-Romny-Piryatin highway has begun. This road connects the central and northern regions of Ukraine, including Poltava and Sumy regions. A significant portion of the traffic on this road consists of passenger buses.

The bridge, constructed in 1966, underwent its last reconstruction 20 years ago. The primary focus of the current work is to replace the expansion joints, which have deteriorated significantly. Failing to do this now would result in the degradation of other bridge elements, including the main structure. Expansion joints compensate for the longitudinal movement of the main structure based on the ambient temperature conditions.

Additionally, there will be a replacement of guardrails and barriers, along with repairs to the sidewalks. These maintenance works are funded by operational expenses.

Preparations for the repairs have already begun. To ensure a smooth flow of traffic, one lane will be closed, and special signs and traffic lights will be installed. This year, priority is given to bridge and artificial structure repairs to minimize road closures, and a traffic light will be installed to facilitate the flow of vehicles in a reversible mode.
