In Cherkasy, they plan to install protective structures near the beaches

Despite the state of war and the danger, residents of Cherkasy continue to relax by the water. However, there are currently no protective structures near water bodies, as reported during a briefing by the director of the Department of Civil Protection, Defense Work, and Interaction with Law Enforcement Agencies of the Cherkasy Regional State Administration, Serhiy Ozeran, according to Suspilne.

He mentioned that in just the past year, there were 64 cases in which residents of the region found themselves in danger. 33 people were saved, but there were 38 fatal cases, including two children.

"Regardless of what we do, people will still relax on the beaches, whether they are legal or illegal," he noted.

Serhiy Ozeran added that there are currently 35 sanctioned beaches in the region, with 21 of them in Cherkasy district. Six of these beaches are ready for use as intended.

Anton Plakhotny, the head of the Department for Prevention of Emergencies at the State Emergency Service of Cherkasy Region, pointed out that rescuers have inspected the beaches and issued relevant orders to those responsible for their maintenance. Additionally, they conduct public awareness campaigns daily.

"I would like to add that all 35 official beaches have also been properly inspected," he said.

According to Serhiy Ozeran, there are almost no protective structures near the water bodies at the moment. However, Cherkasy has already allocated 15 million hryvnias from the city budget for the construction of modular protective structures, some of which may be installed in places where people gather for recreation.
