Man who raped 12-year-old girl detained in Dnipro region

In Dnipropetrovsk region, under the procedural guidance of the Synelnykove District Prosecutor's Office, a previously convicted local resident has been charged. He is accused of assaulting a 12-year-old girl who was at home alone with her younger brother. This information was reported by the press service of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.

According to the investigation, the suspect entered a house on one of the streets where an acquaintance of his used to live. Currently, another family with children rents the house. The man made sure there were no adults in the house, grabbed the 12-year-old child, and dragged her into another room.       Neighbors heard the child's scream and called the law enforcement. Additionally, witnesses rushed to the scene of the crime.

The suspect was apprehended under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. He was also placed in custody as the only preventive measure.

The man is suspected of committing the crime under Part 4 of Article 152 (Sexual assault of a person under the age of fourteen, regardless of their voluntary consent)  of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the suspect may face a sentence of ten to fifteen years of imprisonment.
