Head of tax service department detained in Kirovohrad region for taking UAH 90,000 bribe

In the Kirovohrad region, a head of the tax department of the Kirovohrad Regional Tax Service has been charged with receiving a bribe. This information was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.

According to the investigation, the suspect demanded a bribe of 90,000 hryvnias from a company representative in exchange for the unhindered registration of tax invoices, which were related to the financial and economic activities of this business entity.

The unlawful benefit was to be paid in the amount of 1% of the total value of the tax invoices, ensuring their smooth registration in the Unified Register of Tax Invoices.

The official of the tax institution received the illicit benefit in two installments and was apprehended during the receipt of the second tranche. While taking a walk with a child, she received a portion of the agreed-upon sum—50,000 hryvnias, which she concealed in the pocket of a child's stroller.

During searches at the premises of the tax service and the suspect's place of residence, law enforcement found and seized the following:
- Approximately 1 million hryvnias
- 6,000 euros
- Over 26,000 US dollars
- Documentation related to unlawful activities

The investigation is examining the involvement of other tax authority officials, including the senior management, in the commission of this criminal offense.

Currently, prosecutors have submitted a motion to the court to apply a preventive measure—detention—to the suspect, as well as to suspend her from her position.
