On the night of June 10 in the village of Kyrnasivka, Tulchyn district, a driver of a "Opel Omega" car, who was under the influence, offered bribes to law enforcement officers to avoid responsibility for committing an administrative offense. This was reported by the Main Department of the National Police in Vinnytsia Region. The driver was pulled over for violating the curfew. During the interaction with law enforcement officers, the 28-year-old driver displayed signs of alcohol intoxication. The results of the breathalyzer test showed that he had a blood alcohol level of 1.2 per mil.
While compiling administrative documents for the driver, he attempted to "negotiate" with law enforcement officers and offered them a bribe of 5,000 hryvnias. Law enforcement officers warned the offender about the criminal liability for the offer of an unlawful benefit, but the man continued to "negotiate" and once again offered a bribe of 8,000 hryvnias.
The police documented the violation and initiated a criminal case under Article 369, Part 1, of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Offer, promise, or giving of an unlawful benefit to a law enforcement officer). The man faces up to four years of imprisonment.
