Man recruited people to Russian PMC 'Wagner' in Vinnytsia

A 43-year-old resident of Vinnytsia was recruiting men into the ranks of the private military company "Wagner," which is fighting against Ukraine. This was reported by the Vinnytsia Regional Prosecutor's Office.

Pre-trial investigation established that at the behest of Russian Federation's intelligence representatives, the man was actively searching for and recruiting residents of Vinnytsia into the so-called private military company "Wagner" during November-December 2022 for their subsequent involvement in combat actions against Ukraine. He offered candidates monetary rewards ranging from 2,000 to 4,000 US dollars per month.

One of the recruits, a Vinnytsia resident who had previously served time in a correctional facility along with the recruiter, accepted this "offer." In the paramilitary formation, the new recruit was supposed to carry out tasks related to guarding strategically important Russian facilities in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

The collaborator was arrested in Vinnytsia, and pretrial detention was chosen as a preventive measure for him.

For state treason in the conditions of martial law, the individual faces up to 15 years of imprisonment or life imprisonment with property confiscation.
