In Odesa, man stabs truck driver with a knife during a verbal altercation

Last week, an incident occurred in the Odessa region on the road at Breauss Street, which resulted in the injury of one man. This was reported by the Main Department of the National Police in the Odessa region.

The drivers of a "DAF" truck and a "Toyota" car, not yielding the right of way to each other while overtaking an obstacle, engaged in a verbal altercation.

A 47-year-old passenger in the car intervened in the conflict and stabbed the 35-year-old truck driver in the back with a knife. The assailant left the scene.

Eyewitnesses called an ambulance and law enforcement. The victim was hospitalized with a penetrating stab wound to the lungs.

Law enforcement officers determined the location of the wanted vehicle, but the perpetrator was no longer inside. However, the man, realizing his actions and hiding in the woods, came to the police station on his own. Investigators gathered all the evidence and informed the suspect about being charged with intentional grievous bodily harm, namely, intentional grievous bodily harm that was life-threatening at the time of infliction, as provided for in Article 121(1) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Currently, law enforcement is considering issues related to the suspect's pretrial detention. He may face imprisonment for a term of five to eight years for the committed crime.
