On June 12, law enforcement officers in Vinnytsia region arrested a resident of the town-type settlement of Vapnyarka in the Tulchyn district, who had beaten an acquaintance to death with a stick and transported the body to the outskirts of the town. This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in Poltava region. On June 11, a resident of the town-type settlement of Vapnyarka discovered the body of a man on the outskirts of the town and reported it to law enforcement.
After the body was sent for forensic examination, it was determined that the man had died from the beatings. Law enforcement also managed to identify the deceased: a 38-year-old resident of Vapnyarka. The investigation also revealed that on the evening of June 10, the offender met with the victim and invited him to his home. A conflict arose between the two men on the premises of the house, during which the homeowner grabbed a wooden stick and began to strike the guest. The man succumbed to his injuries shortly after. During the night, the perpetrator used a wheelbarrow to transport the victim's body to the outskirts of the town and left it on a dirt road.
Through operational and investigative activities, the police gathered evidence of the involvement of a 42-year-old local resident, previously convicted of a serious crime. The perpetrator was arrested and placed in a temporary detention facility.
Currently, investigators are considering the issue of notifying the suspect of the charges and determining preventive measures. A criminal case has been opened under Part 2 of Article 121 (Intentional grievous bodily harm resulting in the death of the victim) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The suspect could face up to ten years of imprisonment.
