In Vinnytsia, the memory of KORD fighters who died during the rocket attack on Zaporizhzhia was commemorated

Today, on May 22, in Vinnytsia region, nine special forces soldiers who gave their lives defending the country from Russian aggression exactly one year ago were honored.

The memorial events took place at the Sabariv Cemetery, where the fallen law enforcement officers are buried.

The mourning requiem was attended by the Chief of the Vinnytsia Regional Military Administration, Serhiy Borzov, the Chairman of the Regional Council, Vyacheslav Sokolovyi, the Mayor of Vinnytsia, Serhiy Morgunov, the Head of the National Police Department in Vinnytsia region, Ivan Ishchenko, as well as family members of the fallen police officers and fellow soldiers.

"Our warriors carried out difficult tasks in the active combat zone with honor and dignity. They were true professionals, the best of the best. They gave their lives for the freedom of Ukraine, for the happy and peaceful lives of our children," emphasized Serhiy Borzov.

As previously reported, on the night of May 21-22, 2022, Russia launched a treacherous missile strike on Zaporizhia. That night, 23 fighters from the "Safari" Special Forces Regiment of the National Police of Ukraine from various regions of Ukraine lost their lives.

Among them were nine individuals from Vinnytsia: Police Colonel Mykhailo Zaytsev, Police Lieutenant Colonel Ihor Podzihun, Police Majors Dmytro Klymenko and Bohdan Shcherban, Police Captains Vitaliy Antoshchuk, Bohdan Buleha, and Vitaliy Oliynyk, as well as Police Senior Lieutenants Ihor Bondarchuk and Artur Turliak.
