In the Poltava Regional Clinical Oncological Dispensary, the first linear accelerator and specialized computer tomograph in the region have been installed. The new equipment will significantly reduce the time required for patient examinations and treatment, as reported by the Poltava Regional State Administration.
"One of the strategic tasks that we have been working on in the field of medicine has been realized. In the Poltava region, at the regional oncology dispensary, the first linear accelerator in the region and a modern computer tomograph have been installed. Now people will be able to undergo high-precision diagnostics and quality cancer treatment. Importantly, these services are free for patients. Despite the war, we have managed to implement this plan: to create this modern complex that will help save lives. I sincerely thank everyone who made efforts to bring this equipment to the region. To the team of the oncology dispensary, the MPs, the regional council deputies, the Ministry of Health, and the relevant department of the regional state administration," noted Dmytro Lunin, the head of the Poltava Regional State Administration.
The linear accelerator for the oncology dispensary was purchased for 60 million hryvnias, with 20 million from the state budget and the rest from the regional budget. An additional 28 million hryvnias were allocated from the regional budget for the CT scan.
Orest Vovk, the Chief Doctor of the Poltava Regional Clinical Oncological Dispensary, mentioned that each year, approximately 5,000 cancer patients are registered in the Poltava region. He pointed out that the newly installed equipment will expedite the process of providing assistance.
