At the General Education Gymnasium No. 24 in Vinnytsia, a new project for children with special educational needs is being implemented in partnership with the Department of Education of the city council.
The NGO "Vinnytsia DOWN SYNDROME" has introduced an entirely new format for the education of children with special educational needs, with its own concept, strategy, and vision aimed at achieving the primary and most important goal set by parents (families) of such children: the inclusion of children in active social life after completing school.
In the pilot project, children with special educational needs from different Vinnytsia schools receive group lessons in mathematics, Ukrainian language, and reading three times a week under a special program called "Joy." Despite the fact that the project was initiated several months ago, the children are showing good results.
Recently, the opening of the multifunctional space "Different Abilities - Equal Rights" took place, a pilot project supported by the Vinnytsia City Council upon the initiative of a public organization. Such a space has been created for children studying in various Vinnytsia schools to help children adapt and understand that we are different, but still equal. The socialization of children is essential within the framework of general educational schools," says the project manager Natalia Kosnytska.
The space consists of three zones: educational, play, and a kitchen. The interior of the space is multifunctional, allowing for transformation and serving as a large venue for various events.
Through the contributions of benefactors, repairs were made, equipment and household kitchen appliances were purchased, as well as many items that help develop social and daily living skills.
The city council provided the premises and assistance with the renovation. Funding for the project is partially provided by the NGO "Vinnytsia DOWN SYNDROME" and through funding from the Vinnytsia City Council.
