Mass shawarma poisoning in Dnipro: the details of the high-profile case have been revealed

In Dnipro, after consuming shawarma, people experienced severe poisoning. The incident occurred on June 21 on Hrushevskoho Street, at the terminus of one of the trams, where 56 people felt unwell after consuming shawarma. Five of them sought medical attention, where severe poisoning was confirmed.

This information was reported by the Food Safety Department of the State Consumer Protection Service.

One of the affected individuals described the situation as soon as people started feeling unwell. Initially, there were only ten cases of acute poisoning. The hospital immediately contacted the sanitary-epidemiological service.

"They questioned all of us, took samples, and went to them to inspect the remains of the shawarma. As soon as the inspection was completed, the establishment reopened and acted as if nothing had happened," explained one of the affected individuals.

Remnants of the food were sent for inspection. Currently, the establishment has suspended its operation, and the police have sealed its doors for ten days.

In connection with this case, investigators have initiated a criminal proceeding under Article 325 (Violation of sanitary rules and norms to prevent infectious diseases and mass poisoning) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. They are currently investigating all the circumstances, and the investigation is ongoing.

The affected individuals are still in hospitals with severe food poisoning.
